Theresa Plaisance has re-signed with the Dallas Wings. This has a significant impact on the teams chances now that Liz Cambage has signed on.

The Dallas Wings are going to be one of the top teams in the WNBA next season. Not only do they have their leader in Skylar Diggins-Smith, young phenom Aliisha Gray, they have also signed one of the best players in the world in Liz Cambage.

In light of all this hype, it would be easy to miss the re-signing of role player Theresa Plaisance. Last season, Plaisance had to step up to the starting center role with the absence of Courtney Paris. How did she respond? With flying colors.

Plaisance seemed to take great pleasure stepping behind the three point line, draining 42 of 122 attempts at a rate of 34 percent. This meant a whole lot more space on the floor for other to go to work.

Plaisance also collected 4.3 rebounds per game which was second on the team behind Glory Johnson. This also included 1.3 offensive rebounds per game.

What Plaisance adds to the Wings, now that they have signed Cambage, is line-up flexibility. She showed last season that she could mix it with the starting centers of the league. However, with Cambage looking after the middle, the Wings could play Plaisance at the 4.

If the Wings do not decide to go down this path, they have both Johnson and Karima Christmas-Kelly to play alongside Cambage. Plaisance will be the most likely to spell Cambage when the Australian needs time on the bench.

It is this depth in the front-court which is going to allow Dallas to compete with the established powers within the league like the Connecticut Sun, the Minnesota Lynx and the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Wings have a young roster who really meshed well last season. Let us hope they can play to a similar level this season. If they can, they have a legitimate shot at the title. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure, Theresa Plaisance will play her part well.
