Welcome to the first edition of Dream Tuesdays where we take a look at news stories surrounding the Atlanta Dream from the last week.

The Dream opened their training camp roster with 18 players this year. They have to whittle this down to 12 for the regular season roster. As with every team there are core players, ones which should get a spot and the ones fighting for the end of the bench. Below is how the Dream will probably view their roster

Definite Probable Fighting for a spot
Jessica Breland Monique Billings Kristy Wallace
Layshia Clarendon Damiris Dantas Adaora Elonu
Angel McCoughtry Blake Dietrick Alexa Hart
Renee Montgomery Maggie Lucas Mackenzie Engram
Tiffany Hayes Imani McGee-Stafford Rosemary Julien
Elizabeth Williams Brittney Sykes

The six players are always going to be a lock. Angel McCoughtry is coming back after a year but is a talent which simply cannot be ignored. Elizabeth Williams is a shot blocking machine who will combine to make one of the best walls in the WNBA with Jessica Breland.

Layshia Clarendon and Tiffany Hayes were a dynamic back-court last season. This season with more help, expect them to be more dangerous Renee Montgomery is a player who adds so much to any team and was simply the best free-agent signing in the league. Listen to the Insidr interview with her here.

The players who are probable to make the roster fall into two categories. Damiris Dantas, Imani McGee-Stafford, Brittany Sykes and Monique Billings should all easily make the team. However, Maggie Lucas has to answer the post-injury question while Blake Dietrick simply has to prove herself.

Of the players fighting for a spot Kristy Wallace is missing the season due to her knee injury. This leaves Adaora Elonu, Alexa Hart, Mackenzie Engram and Rosemary Julien fighting to make the squad

The Dream kick off their pre-season against the Chicago Sky in Chicago. They then travel again to take on the Connecticut Sun in Connecticut. In one of my most eagerly anticipated day one matchup, the Dream travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Wings on the 18th of May.

Come back next Tuesday for the next installment of Dream Tuesdays.
