In a busy week of the preseason for the Washington Mystics they had plenty to talk about for this edition of Washington Wednesdays. They even found time to play a game against the Minnesota Lynx.

Preseason game vs Minnesota Lynx

The Washington Mystics started the preseason in the best possible way by taking a win against the defending champions the Minnesota Lynx. The Mystics played without starting point guard Kristi Tolliver and reserve point guard Allison Hightower.

However, this did not seem to matter as the Mystics took control of the first half 54-32. They would be outscored in the second half but hold on for the 90-85 victory.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored a team high 17 points, Elena Delle Donne and Monique Currie both had 11 points. However, the bench contributed to this win in a big way which is a great sign for the Mystics.

In 16 minutes Myisha Hines-Allen had 13 points and four rebounds. Shatori Walker Kimbrough had nine points in 14 minutes. Their first round draft pick, Ariel Atkins had a tentative game scoring seven points on 2-of-9 shooting.

With Tolliver, Hightower and Tayler Hill to come back into this squad, this team could be competitive once the regular season rolls round.

The Washington Mystics trimmed their roster by two when they waived Tanaya Atkinson and Tinara Moore. Last season Atkinson averaged 20.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game at Temple.

Moore averaged 19.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in her final year at Central Michigan.

Tayler Hill recovery

Tayler Hill is pushing through her recovery. She has found the mental aspect of the recovery the hardest. She has found it tough to trust her leg after the injury but is well on the road to recovery. Watch below for her update.
