When Steph Talbot came back to the WNBL this season, she was always going to be a top player. This week she made her second team of the week.

Many followers of the WNBA would know Steph Talbot as one of the most amazing spare parts players in the league. She puts the team first and does all the little things on the court which allow her stars, Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner. When she came back to the WNBL, the Melbourne Boomers wanted Talbot to be one of the main players.

Well, Talbot has delivered. She has been named to the WNBL team of the week for the second time this season. She got the round eleven nod thanks to 22 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. What is impressive is that Talbot did not miss from inside the arc, going 5-of-5

Even more impressive that this, Talbot went 4-of-6 from deep, giving her a combined shooting line of 9-of-11. Talbot was only just shaded for player of the week by Kelsey Griffin who averaged 22.5 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1.5 steals over the round.

Talbot’s numbers have been impressive this season. The Melbourne Boomers have a stacked roster with players such as Cayla George, Ezi Magbegor, Jenna O’Hea, Lindsay Allen and Maddie Garrick. Despite all the competition for time on the court and ball usage, Talbot has averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

With the Boomers on top of the WNBL ladder, look for Talbot to finish the year out strong. In her sixth year in the league, Talbot is playing with a more score first mentality than she has in the past thanks to Allen running the team the way she has been. This will only benefit the Phoenix Mercury when she returns, if she can carry the confidence through.
