The Indiana Fever are reportedly re-signing Natalie Achonwa to a multi-year deal.

Free agency started with a number of moves for a number of teams. The Indiana Fever have made a number of under the radar moves, one of these is the reported re-signing of Natalie Achonwa as reported by Women’s Hoopz

This is a tremendous low-key signing for the team. Achonwa was tremendous for the bottom of the table Fever last season. She had several huge games last season on her way to a career-high 10.3 points per game.

Achonwa also had a career year on the glass. She collected a career high 6.9 rebounds per game. That is not a surprise considering the Fever were always going to struggle rebounding. Her 2.5 offensive rebounds per game were a career high as well.

Achonwa was also able to have the offense run through her more. She averaged 1.4 assists per game allowed the Fever to play an inside/outside game on occasions throughout last year, without having a dominant big.

The only question that remains in regards to the contract terms. With the new collective bargaining agreement in the works for next season there is a question as to why she would sign a multi-year deal. It seems to me that Achonwa is going all in on this team.

The Fever are in the middle of a deep rebuild, they will grow organically on the back on Victoria Vivians and Kelsey Mitchell. They will also have this the third pick in the 2019 draft to pair with these two. Achonwa is continuing to develop her identity with the league and appears to want to continue her journey with the Fever.
