The Phoenix Mercury have shown faith in Yvonne Turner, re-signing her to another contract.

The Phoenix Mercury are going to be a force again next year. They have one or two pieces left to fall into place but with the signing of Yvonne Turner, they are almost back to the team they were last season.

Turner has shown that she is not afraid of the moment, In the must win game 3 semi-final against the Seattle Storm she was needed as a starter and ended up scoring a career playoff high 19 points. She then matched that feat in game 5 of the series.

Her career averages of 4.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists are well and truly overshadowed by her playoff numbers of 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Turner plays better when the pressure is on.

Turner has been a spark off the bench for the Mercury team. She is able to provide what her team needs when she steps on to the court. If the Mercury need scoring, Turner provides. She also provides ball movement and rebounding as they are required.

Turner is also a solid defender. She was named to the Big-12 All defensive team three times in her college career. She was also Big-12 defensive player of the year in her senior year.

The growth of Turner is going to be crucial for the Mercury to take the next step in 2019. If Turner can take some of the load during the regular season then the Mercury are going to be hard to resist in the playoffs.
