The Atlanta Dream have signed forward Haley Peters to a free agent contract giving her the chance to get back into the WNBA.
The Atlanta Dream have signed Haley Peters to a free agent contract, giving her a shot at making the league for the first time since the 2017 season. Peters played a total of 38 games in two seasons, 36 with the San Antonio Stars and two with the Washington Mystics.
Peters has career averages of 5.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. However, she has been plying her trade in Europe for the past two seasons, averaging 14. 6 points and 6.1 rebounds in league play. In Euroleague play, Peters is averaging 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the harder Euroleague.
One area of her game that Peters has worked on since signing in Europe is her outside game. She was already a strong presence inside but has extended her range. This is going to be incredibly important for this Dream team as they were last in the league in 3-point shooting last season.
This was pretty much the only weakness for the Dream last season. They had a great inside game and a strong mid-range game. They were exposed in the finals when scoring machine Angel McCoughtry went down.
Peters may not see huge court time at the start of the season. She will have to work her way into the rotation so that she can impact the playoffs at some point. If she makes the squad for the season, coach Nicki Collen will ensure that she knows the systems in order for her to be effective.
