The Seattle Storm had the off season from hell last season. Coach Dan Hughes announced he had cancer and the heartbeats of the team got hurt.
The year after the Seattle Storm won the WNBA championship the wheels fell off for the franchise. Coach Dan Hughes missed part of the season to battle cancer. Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart missed the entire season through injury.
Natasha Howard was the clear standout for this team, she helped the 2018 champions to sixth last season. This was an incredible effort considering that she had external legal factors.
The Storm have the 7th, 19th and 31st pick in the WNBA draft. Lets take a look at the players they have the chance to re-sign.
Sue Bird
Sue B ird, the WNBA leader in just about everything guard related will go around for another season. She has played her entire career with the Storm and therefore will re-sign.
Courtney Paris
Courtney Paris played 30 games last year, averaging 0.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. She is a Dan Hughes devotee, having played for the coach in two locations. If she plays next year, she will come back to the Storm.
Shavonte Zellous
Signed after the injury to Bird, Shavonte Zellous played 30 games. She averaged 4.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. If Bird comes back healthy, Zellous will be looking for a new team this off season.
Blake Dietrick
Playing 17 games last season Blake Dietrick averaged 0.4 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. She may be offered a training camp contract but will not be on the roster next season.
Breanna Stewart
The 2018 MVP, finals MVP and FIBA MVP was injured prior to the start of the season playing overseas. She will re-sign with the Storm, hopefully getting back near her 2018 form.
